Yamuna Water Level may Cross 205.33m
Due to heavy rains in the north, a flood situation is being created. Yamuna River has assumed a fierce form in the country’s capital Delhi. For the first time in history, the water level of the river has reached its all-time maximum, surpassing the record of 45 years ago. Due to this flood water reached many colonies. According to the information of the Central Water Commission, at one o’clock in the afternoon, the water level of the Yamuna River at Delhi’s old railway bridge increased to 207.55 meters.
Delhi has been flooded due to heavy rains for three days. The streams and turns are surging. Yamuna River is flowing above a dangerous level. This is the first time in the last 44 years that the Yamuna River is flowing so fast. The flow of flood is increasing gradually since morning. The Delhi Flood Control Department says that this is the first time since 1978 that the Yamuna River is in flood.
Due to the release of water from Haryana, the Yamuna River is flowing dangerously in Delhi. The dangerous level of this river is 205.33 meters. Two days back it crossed this mark. After 2013, the water level of the river again touched the figure of 207 meters this morning. This afternoon it was recorded at 207.55 meters. This is the first time that the water level of the river has increased so much.
In 1978, there was a severe flood in Delhi when the water level of Yamuna river reached 207.49 meters. Now that the record has been crossed, the officials are worried. The people of the low-lying areas of the coastal area have already been evacuated. On the other hand, flood water has flooded some colonies where people are living. People are in bad condition due to water entering houses and markets.
In view of the flood situation, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal held an emergency meeting with top officials. The officials were instructed to be prepared to deal with the threat of flood. On the other hand, taking precautions, the Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in flood-prone areas. Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal has sought the intervention of the Center as the Yamuna river in Delhi is in spate and alarm bells are ringing. An appeal was made on Twitter to ensure that the water level of the Yamuna river does not rise further. He said that if the water level rises to 207.72 meters as per the estimate of the Central Water Board, then trouble will arise for Delhi. Kejriwal said that even though it has not rained in Delhi for the last two days, the water level of Yamuna river is increasing at an abnormal level. The reason for this is the release of water from Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana.
